ST6-P5: Green Revolution

The professor talks about two criticisms of Green Revolution, which brings the development of agriculture.

First of all, agriculture is dependent on oil and gas. Nowadays using various machines is essential in agriculture, all of which run on gas.

Also along with Green Revolution, farming has come to use a lot of chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides, which are made from oil. So it means that if oil ran out, there might not be enough food for people. Another issue is human health problem. As farming now uses a lot of chemicals to improve production, its negative effects on human health is becoming serious. In some poor countries, the situation is worse due to the lack of regulation about using those chemicals.
